Whose idea was it to have Meryl Streep sing and dance? And while wearing overalls, no less. Cuh-reepy.
Also, how is it that they made a musical using ABBA songs before someone thought to make one using Beatles songs?

I'm a native Californian who lives in Oklahoma. I'm a full-time student, pursuing a Bachelors in Anthropology, following which I hope to attain a Masters in Archaeology. I have three kids, one husband, no pets, and a lot of friends - most of whom live inside my computer. I love to read, write, watch tv (shut up, we can't all be brain surgeons), shop, and travel. I'm trying to set foot in all 50 states before I die. I have 38, so far. I love the Beatles and Maroon 5, and if you think those two things are incongruous, well, they are. But that's me. When I love something, I love it 100%. I don't do anything halfway. I want to know everything there is to know, so I'm trying to cram as much into my brain as I can in the short amount of time I'm allotted in this dimension.

  1. Pierce Brosnan singing, too. You don’t have James Bond breaking into song in an ABBA movie, either.
The film makers should have had Brosnan assume his Bond role, put on a tuxedo, and, when Streep started belting out those songs, Bond could have taken out his Walther PPK and finished her, in mid-song. I guarantee the audience would’ve been standing and cheering, roaring their approval.
Please note, I did not see the movie in the theater or on home video.

  2. Yeah, what up with that? Although I have to admit a fondness for ABBA, partly because of “Dancing Queen” my freshman year of college, and partly because of “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” which is a totally awesome gay Australian movie soaked in ABBA.
Did I ever tell you my second husband Anthony was a finalist for Paul in the original New York Beatlemania in the ’70s?

  3. Still haven’t seen it. The commercials drove me insane though so I probably won’t be seeing it until it comes out on HBO or something and I happen across it.
